Hira Atif, Ph.D.

Visiting Assistant Professor, Integrated Sciences & Mathematics
Dhanani School of Science & Engineering

Biography

Hira Ashraf Baig is a skilled mathematics educator and researcher with a strong passion for exploring the intricacies of mathematical concepts and their applications. With over a decade of experience in the field of mathematics education, Hira has exhibited a profound commitment to fostering a deep understanding of mathematical principles among students while continuously pushing the boundaries of her own knowledge.

Hira’s earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Karachi, Pakistan for which she was one of the recipients of Indigenous 5000 Scholarships by Higher Education Commission (HEC). Her doctoral research, titled “Higher Order Convexity and Related Dynamic Estimates on Time Scales,” demonstrated her prowess in tackling complex mathematical problems and contributing to the advancement of mathematical theory. Prior to her doctoral studies, Hira completed her M.Phil. from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), where her research delved into the continuity and differentiability of convex functions. During her M.Sc. studies at the University of Karachi, where she graduated as a Gold Medalist in Pure Mathematics.

As a Lecturer at the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi, she has been instrumental in teaching undergraduate courses and providing valuable guidance to students. Her commitment to education extends beyond the classroom, as she has contributed to the development of the curriculum, conducted interviews for incoming students, and engaged in students’ counseling to help them excel academically. She has also rendered her teaching services imparting mathematical knowledge as a Visting Lecturer at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, Greenwich University, and the University of Karachi.

Hira’s work has been published in reputable international journals, covering a wide array of topics including but not limited to generalized convexity, time scale calculus, dynamic inequalities, modeling, and simulations. She has showcased her research acumen by participating as a speaker in various seminars, workshops, and conferences, where she has shared insights on these diverse mathematical subjects and facilitated the exchange of ideas within the academic community.

Beyond her academic achievements, Hira is known for her proficiency in mathematical software tools such as LATEX, Matlab, and Mathematica. These skills have enabled her to not only conduct sophisticated mathematical analyses but also effectively communicate her findings to a broader audience.
