Biography
Dr. Behroz Mirza has been Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Habib University since August 2023, where he teaches Theory of Computation, Advanced Operating Systems, Deep Learning, and Self-Supervised and Incremental Learning, and serves as Head of the Khidmat Committee and a member of the Academic Integrity Violation Committee. He received Habib University’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2026.
Before joining academia full-time, Dr. Mirza spent nearly two decades leading enterprise technology programs across Pakistan’s insurance and financial sectors — most recently as Head of Technical Program Management at Jubilee Life Insurance, Pakistan’s largest health insurer (2015–2023), where he led ERP development and the sector’s first Insurtech/RPA integration. He earlier served as Technical Manager of IT at State Life Insurance Corporation (2010–2015), Senior Software Engineer at Citibank N.A. Pakistan (2006–2009), and Business Analyst on Pakistan Customs’ national clearance system at the Federal Board of Revenue (2004–2006). Alongside his industry career, he was Visiting Faculty at SZABIST (2015–2018) while completing his Ph.D. in theoretical machine learning at FAST-NUCES.
Dr. Mirza’s research centers on deep generative models, causal covariate shift correction, and self-supervised learning for tabular data, with a 2024 paper recognized among the top submissions at ICLR. He is a Judge for Habib’s Undergraduate Research Symposium (DURS) and reviews for ICML, NeurIPS, and AAAI.
