Biography
Dr. Tariq Mumtaz has been a faculty member of the Electrical & Computer Engineering program at Habib University since June 2016, teaching across telecommunications, signals and systems, wireless communications, and data networking, and actively engaging in University and ECE program committees. He completed his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at NED University in 2021 while continuing to teach at Habib.
Before joining Habib, Mr. Mumtaz worked as a telecom consultant for over 15 years with major mobile operators in Pakistan and carriers in the USA and Middle East, and served all major telecom vendors including Ericsson, Nokia, Alcatel-Lucent, and Huawei — working across second, third, and fourth-generation mobile network design, performance optimization, Self-Organizing Network (SON) features, carrier aggregation, and beamforming.
Dr. Mumtaz holds CCNP and PMP certifications and is a registered engineer with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC # EE-17540). His recent research applies formal verification and AI/ML techniques to radio resource allocation for Open RAN-compliant 5G/6G networks.
