Biography
Sajal Sohail Rana was promoted to Senior Lecturer in the Integrated Sciences and Mathematics program at Habib University in September 2026, having joined as Lecturer in August 2021, where she leads the course teams for Calculus I, Calculus II, and Linear Algebra. She has been involved with the private education sector since 2006 — first in Lahore, briefly in London following her master’s, and in Karachi since 2016, including a long association with Karachi Grammar School as an A-Level Mathematics and General Paper teacher (2016–2021) and Coordinator for Cambridge Professional Development Qualifications (2018–2021).
Alongside her Habib role, she continues to serve as an external examiner for Pearson-Edexcel UK, marking GCE and A-Level Mathematics papers internationally (2014–present), and as Lead Programme Leader for the University of Cambridge’s PDQ Program, training in-house teachers on Cambridge’s Certificate and Diploma in Teaching and Learning (2018–present). Her degree in mathematics education and experience in teacher training inform her research interest in how pedagogical approaches and assessment practices affect student motivation in mathematics; she led a 2024–2025 research project on the pressure to secure top examination grades in Pakistan and its impact on mathematics teachers’ classroom assessment.
