Biography
Dr. Aamir Hasan returned to a full-time faculty role as Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Habib University in August 2025, following four years as the university’s Vice President for Academic Affairs (August 2021–July 2025) — Habib’s chief academic officer, in which he provided leadership across governance, faculty development, and undergraduate program quality, and led Habib’s New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) accreditation journey from eligibility through the candidacy visit phase.
Before that, he served as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education & Accreditation (April 2020–March 2024), overseeing curriculum planning, academic governance, and national and international accreditation processes, and as Program Director of the Electrical and Computer Engineering program (January 2018–May 2020). He first joined Habib as Associate Professor and Program Director (EE) in January 2018, following an earlier role as a part-time Academic Consultant to Habib (2012–2013) helping design the Electrical Engineering major’s curriculum.
Dr. Hasan’s earlier career combined academia with Pakistan Air Force (PAF) engineering leadership: he founded and chaired an Avionics department at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra (2017), directed the Aviation Design Institute (AvDI) as Director Avionics (2015–2017), served as Chief Engineer for Flight Simulation Training Device development (2013–2015), and was a Senior Consultant on PAF’s Next Generation Network project (2007–2012), for which he received Pakistan’s Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) in 2010. He also held visiting and assistant-professor teaching posts at institutions including the Institute of Avionics and Aeronautics, Air University, CASE Islamabad, and the University of Texas at Austin, and began his career as a Research & Design Engineer with PAF (1991–1996).
Dr. Hasan’s research investigates the impact of physical-layer design choices on wireless ad hoc network performance using stochastic geometry. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (2017) and an IEEE Senior Member (2019).
