Biography
Dr. Waseem Hassan serves as Faculty Director of Research at Habib University alongside his role as Assistant Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering, teaching Computer Architecture. His doctoral research at NTNU developed the “Internet of Fish” concept and a novel Doppler-principle-based method for measuring individual fish swimming speed in real time — work that combined embedded systems design with acoustic signal processing for marine aquaculture monitoring.
After completing his Ph.D. in 2021, Dr. Hassan worked as a Development Engineer at Nortek AS, Norway, developing algorithms and applications for Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) used in oceanographic and hydrological measurement. He also served as a Scientific Assistant at NTNU (2017–2020), teaching embedded systems labs and supervising research projects. He brings over five years of combined industrial and academic experience spanning embedded systems, machine learning, and cyber-physical systems.
