Biography
Rameez Ragheb has been a Lecturer in Mathematics at Habib University’s Integrated Sciences and Mathematics program since August 2019, designing and teaching eight primary and advanced mathematics courses, including independent-study offerings in Real Analysis and Topology that he helped establish by leading the Independent Study Policy Development Committee. He contributes to Program Design, Program Review, Curriculum Review, and Academic Integrity and Faculty Search committees, has maintained teaching evaluations above 80% throughout his tenure, and serves as Patron of the Math Club and Organizer of Habib Math Circles (2024).
Before Habib, Ragheb was a Research Associate at the Video Analytics Lab, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Karachi (Feb–Jul 2019), developing a facial-recognition security system using deep convolutional networks (FaceNet) and implementing deep neural video-prediction research on Keras. He completed his M.S. in Mathematics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (2014–2018), where he also worked as a Research Assistant in Data Analysis (2016–2017), building end-to-end data pipelines and machine-learning-based data translation, and completed an image-processing project analyzing plant growth for KIT’s Botany Department using OpenCV. He began his teaching career as a Teaching Assistant in Mathematics at LUMS (2013–2014).
His primary research interest is Discrete Mathematics — spanning Logic, Set Theory, Graph Theory, Combinatorics, and Theoretical Computer Science — with more recent engagement in Machine Learning, where discrete techniques inform data storage, representation, clustering, and classification. Beyond teaching, he has organized university-hosted mathematics workshops for local schools and a Math Outreach Program (STEAM) for low-income schools, and represented Pakistan at the Asian Pacific Mathematics Olympiad (2009). He is a former member of MENSA Pakistan.
