Biography
Dr. Naveed Razzaq Butt joined Habib University as Associate Professor in the Dhanani School of Science and Engineering in August 2025, teaching Signals and Systems, Electric Circuits, and Data Science, and serving on the Mathematics Curriculum Review Committee.
He joins Habib from the GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, where he served as Associate Professor and, for five years, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences (2020–2025) — leading curriculum modernization, PEC/HEC accreditation, and the launch of GIKI’s faculty YouTube channel with 150+ video lectures. Before GIKI, he was Assistant Professor at Jouf University, Saudi Arabia (2018–2020), and Senior Researcher at Ericsson Research, Lund, Sweden (2014–2018), where he contributed to IEEE 802.11 wireless standards. He completed his Ph.D. in Mathematical Statistics at Lund University (2006–2011), continuing there as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Researcher (2011–2014), and holds dual Pakistani-Swedish nationality.
Dr. Butt has over 20 years of combined academic and industrial experience across Sweden, Saudi Arabia, the UK, and Pakistan. His research output includes 18 impact-factor journal articles, 28 international conference papers, 11 granted and 3 pending U.S. patents, 2 book chapters, and 1 book, alongside supervision of 9 M.S. and 1 Ph.D. thesis. He has collaborated with organizations including the Swedish Defence Research Agency, Wellcome Trust, Ericsson, SUPARCO, and Careem, and continues to co-supervise graduate research at GIKI as an external co-supervisor.
