Biography
Dr. Asgher Ali has been Assistant Professor of Integrated Sciences and Mathematics at Habib University since 2024, teaching Calculus I & II, Engineering Mathematics, Linear Algebra, and Advanced Differential Equations, and contributing to curriculum development for the ISciM program and the Committee on Academic Standing.
Before Habib, he was a Research Assistant at LUMS (2022–2023), developing physics-informed neural network (PINN) approaches in Julia for chemostat-based dosing models, and Adjunct Faculty and, earlier, Teaching Assistant at LUMS (2015–2023) across courses spanning Calculus, Numerical Analysis, and Quantitative Finance. He also held visiting lecturer roles at the University of Central Punjab (2019–2021) and the University of Management and Technology (2020–2021), and was a Visiting Researcher at Mälardalens University, Sweden (2016–2017), under an EU Erasmus Mundus research-mobility fellowship.
Dr. Ali’s research applies optimal control theory and gradient-descent methods to problems in antibiotic dosing and resistant-strain management, published in PLOS ONE. He is proficient in Julia (JuMP, Optim.jl, NeuralPDE.jl), Python, and MATLAB for scientific computing.
