Biography

Dr. Mutti-Ur Rehman is an accomplished mathematician, bringing over a decade of expertise to the realm of university research and teaching. Currently serving as a visiting associate professor at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Nevada, Reno, his academic journey is marked by a profound commitment to advancing the field of applied mathematics.

Mutti-Ur Rehman embarked on his academic pursuits at GSSI and SISSA Italy, where he pursued his Ph.D. in Mathematics with a specialization in Numerical Analysis. His doctoral research, completed in 2017, made a substantial contribution to the field with the development of a novel iterative method aimed at approximating structured singular values. This work showcased his keen insight into numerical algorithms, laying the foundation for his future contributions.

Following the successful completion of his Ph.D., Dr. Rehman ventured into the realm of post-doctoral research at MIT-USA in 2020. During this period, he delved into the intricate complexities of exploiting hidden structures within N-matrices, particularly in the context of nonlinear dynamical systems described by discrete-time equations. His work at MIT, supervised by Prof. Dr. Richard D. Braatz, demonstrated his ability to tackle advanced problems in control systems with a focus on real-world applications.

Dr. Mutti-Ur Rehman’s journey in academia is characterized by a seamless integration of research, teaching, and administrative roles. His multidimensional approach to mathematics has left an indelible mark on both his students and the academic community at large. As he continues to contribute to the field, his work stands as a testament to the transformative power of applied mathematics in addressing complex real-world challenges.
