Biography
Dr. Edward Moad has been Professor of Comparative Humanities at Habib University since August 2025. He spent the preceding seventeen years at Qatar University’s Department of Humanities, rising from Assistant Professor (2008–2014) to Associate Professor (2014–2020) to Professor (2020–2025). Earlier in his career, he was a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Philosophy at the National University of Singapore (2005–2008), a Lecturer at the University of Texas-Pan American (2004–2005), and a Graduate Instructor at the University of Missouri-Columbia (1997–2003), where he completed his Ph.D. in Philosophy in 2004.
Dr. Moad’s research explores metaphysics, moral epistemology, and philosophy of religion through a comparative lens, often drawing connections between classical Islamic thought and contemporary philosophical debates, with particular focus on the nature of time, modality, and causality as they function in the “Incoherence” debate between Al-Ghazali and Ibn Rushd. At Qatar University, he played a key role in curriculum development, including establishing the university’s first Minor in Philosophy, offered in both English and Arabic to over 150 students.
