Biography
Muneera Batool has served as Associate Dean of Teaching & Learning at Habib University since 2024, alongside her role as Assistant Professor of Communication and Design, which she has held since 2021, developing and teaching interdisciplinary courses in performance, devised theatre, installation art, and media design, and supervising undergraduate capstone projects. She received Habib’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2023 for her course “Performing Narrative,” a New Faculty Research Grant (PKR 1 million, 2023), and Summer Tehqiq Research Project grants in both 2024 and 2025.
Batool earned her M.F.A. in Theatre from Arizona State University (ASU) as a Fulbright Scholar, studying media and projection design alongside performance, and taught design & composition and narratology courses there. She is a practicing theatre director and media designer whose work and pedagogy center on devised theatre through Moment Work and Viewpoints & Composition, along with Jacques Lecoq’s teachings, and she is a core collaborator and designer for Whistling Moon, a community-based theatre company in Arizona. She has also collaborated with Nighat Chaudhry as a media designer for a dance performance shown live in India.
