Biography
Dr. Yasmeen Jamali has been Assistant Professor of Social Development and Policy at Habib University since January 2024, teaching What is Modernity?, Qualitative Research Methods, Introduction to Demography, Quantitative Research Methods, and Social Theory I. She completed her Ph.D. in Demography at Université Panthéon-Sorbonne Paris 1 in December 2023, fully funded by an HEC Overseas Scholarship under the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Project, with a thesis examining young Baloch women’s agency in relation to higher education access.
She has presented her research at international venues including the International Conference “Politiques éducatives et projets de société” at Université d’Orléans (2021) and the doctoral seminar of IDUP (2022), and most recently presented “Young Women’s Agency in Balochistan: What Do They Say?” at the Wujuud-i Zan conference at Habib University (February 2025). She received a Summer Tehqiq Research Program grant (2025) for a project on fertility transition in Pakistan, and co-organized an International Study Day on Population Health at CRIDUP, Université Panthéon-Sorbonne (2019).
