Biography
Dr. Alexei Procyshyn is a philosopher specializing in the Frankfurt School, German philosophy, post-Kantian European philosophy, and social and political philosophy, with additional expertise in aesthetics, comparative (Chinese-German) philosophy, and social ontology and epistemology. He earned his PhD in Philosophy from the New School for Social Research after completing two Master’s degrees at Western University, Canada.
Dr. Procyshyn has held teaching and research appointments across four continents, including Queen’s University Belfast, Sun Yat-sen University, Nazarbayev University, Monash University, and the University of Macau. His research focuses on Walter Benjamin, immanent critique, and cross-cultural dialogue between German and Chinese philosophical traditions. His recent work includes the forthcoming monograph Walter Benjamin’s Philosophy of Experience (Routledge) and the co-translation of Ernst Tugendhat’s Egocentricity and Mysticism (Columbia University Press).
