Biography
Anum Naseer has been Assistant Professor of Communication and Design at Habib University since August 2025. She is an illustrator and Fulbright Scholar currently completing a Master of Fine Arts in Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where she also earned a Certificate in Collegiate Teaching, alongside an M.Phil. in English Literature from Forman Christian College and a B.A. (Hons) in English Literature from Kinnaird College, where she received the Mira Phailbus Gold Medal for Overall Excellence.
Before Habib, she was a Teaching Assistant at RISD (Feb 2024–2025) in courses including Character Creation, Visualizing Space, and History of Illustration, and a Research Assistant at RISD’s Center for Complexity (Sept 2023–Jan 2024), co-authoring a paper on climate grief rituals for the “Manual for the Anthropocene.” She was also a Permanent Lecturer at Government College University (2023), a Teacher and Debate Coach at Lahore Grammar School OPF (2021–2023), and a Visiting Lecturer at Kinnaird College (2019–2021), where she curated student exhibitions at the Alhamra Arts Council. Since 2018 she has worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer for clients including ChadarOrg, Lok Sujaag, and the Center for Social Justice.
Her creative practice centers on visual storytelling, character design, and mixed media illustration, and she engages actively in community-based projects on empathy, grief, gender, and inclusion — including The Grief Directory (oral history and interfaith collaboration), the Unicorn Art Gallery (archival digitization), and inclusive art programming at the Al-Shafique Orphanage, Gulistan-e-Saeeda School, and the Oasis School for Autism.
