Exemptions from the HU Entrance Examination

There are two possible ways to get an exemption from the HU Entrance Examination. You may select one as per your planning and performance.

SAT Based Exemption

Exemption for the applicants of School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

You may be exempted from the Habib University’s Entrance Examination for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (EE for AHSS) completely  if you have taken the SAT I. Scores required to qualify for exemption are mentioned below:

  • Old SAT Format(Used by January 2016 and before): 1800
  • New SAT Format(Effective from March 2016): 1200
    • Minimum score required in English: 500
    • Minimum score required in Math: 500
    • Average minimum score required in Essay: 5

For complete exemption from EE for AHSS, it is essential for you to take essay in SAT I as Habib University require essay score. If you will not take essay examination in SAT I then you are required to take Habib University Essay Examination.

Exemption for the applicants of School of Science and Engineering

    1. You may be exempted from the English component of Habib University’s Entrance Examination for School of Science and Engineering (EE for SSE) completely if you have taken the SAT I. Scores required to qualify for exemption are mentioned below:
      • Old SAT Format (Used by January 2016 and before): 1800
      • New SAT Format (Effective from March 2016): 1200
      • Minimum score required in English: 500
      • Minimum score required in Math: 500
      • Average minimum score required in Essay: 5

For complete exemption from the English component of EE for SSE, it is essential for you to take essay in SAT I as Habib University require essay score. If you will not take essay examination in SAT I then you are required to take Habib University Essay Examination.

  1. Applicants for Science and Engineering can get exemption from the College Level Math Component of the test if they have taken SAT II Mathematics (II) and have scored 600 and above

All the applicants are required to submit SAT scores using SAT score code 7344 as per the timelines mentioned in the admission schedule. Please remember to send your SAT score report to  admissions@habib.edu.pk as well.

High Grade Based Exemption

This option is applicable only for the students of Cambridge Examination Board (CEB) and Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB). If your grades are high as per the criteria mentioned below, you can apply for Grade Based Exemption and need to upload the attested copies of your O & A level or SSC/HSSC transcripts in the ‘Upload Document’ section of your e-application.

Exemption for the applicants of School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

  • AKU-EB students can get complete exemption from the Entrance Examination for AHSS if their average SSC & HSSC score is 85% or above. Those students who have not completed HSSC, can use their HSSC I marks. Click here to access Average Grade Calculator to calculate your SSC and HSSC average score.
  • CEB students can get a complete test exemption from the Entrance Examination for AHSS if their average score in eleven subjects of O & A levels is 85% or above and no grade is lower than a B. General Paper is not included in eleven subjects and electives in O and A Levels should be the most relevant to the program applying at HU. Those who have not yet completed their A level examination can use their AS grades. No exemption will be granted just based on O level scores. . Exemption for the applicants of School of School of Science and Engineering

  • All Science and Engineering applicants can avail Grade based Exemption for the English Component of their Entrance Examination only. They need to take a short Habib University’s College Level Mathematics Test or submit SAT II Math II scores.
  • AKU-EB students can get exemption from the English Component of Entrance Examination for SSE if their average SSC & HSSC score is 85% or above.   • CEB students can get test exemption from the English Component of Entrance Examination for SSE if their average score in eleven subjects of O & A levels is 85% or above and no grade is lower than a B.
