Habib University allows students to opt for exemption from the HU Entrance Examination based on either their high grades or SAT score (only partial exemption). However, the Office of Admissions encourages students to appear for the Habib University Entrance Examination in order to improve their admissions score. This way the students will have an advantage in securing a place at Habib University.

SAT-BASED EXEMPTION

Exemption for the applicants of School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

You may only be partially exempted from Habib University’s Entrance Examination for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, if your SAT I scores are meeting the exemption criteria (mentioned below). However, in order to qualify for SAT-based partial exemption, your scores should not be older than 2 years. It is also mandatory for all Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences applicants to attempt the essay portion of the Habib University entrance exam, as there is no exemption from this component, since College board has discontinued the SAT essay component. Scores required to qualify for exemption are mentioned below:

  • Overall SAT Score should be 1400 or above with:
    • Minimum score required in English: 700
    • Minimum score required in Math: 700

Exemption for the applicants of the Dhanani School of Science and Engineering

You may only be partially exempted from Habib University’s Entrance Examination for the Dhanani School of Science & Engineering, if your SAT I scores are meeting the exemption criteria (mentioned below). However, in order to qualify for SAT-based partial exemption, your scores should not be older than 2 years. It is also mandatory for all Science & Engineering applicants to attempt the Advanced level Maths & essay components of the Habib University entrance exam, as there is no exemption from these component, since College board has discontinued the SAT essay & SAT II Math II components. Scores required to qualify for exemption are mentioned below:

  • Overall SAT Score should be 1400 or above with:
    • Minimum score required in English: 700
    • Minimum score required in Math: 700

All the applicants are required to submit SAT scores using SAT score code 7344 as per the timelines mentioned in the admission schedule. Please make sure to upload the SAT score report on the ‘Upload Documents’ section of the e-application.

HIGH-GRADE BASED EXEMPTION

This option is applicable only for the students of Cambridge Examination Board (CEB) and Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB) – those who have not applied for HU TOPS program. If your grades meet the criteria mentioned below, you can apply for Grade Based Exemption. You will need to upload the attested copies of your O & A level or SSC/HSSC transcripts in the ‘Upload Document’ section of your e-application.

Exemption for the applicants of School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

  • AKU-EB students can get exemption from the Entrance test if their average SSC & HSSC score is 85% or above. Those students who have not completed their HSSC can use their HSSC I result. Click here to access Average Grade Calculator to calculate your SSC and HSSC average score.
  • CEB students can get a complete test exemption from the Entrance Examination for AHSS if their average score in eleven subjects of O & A levels is 85% or above and no grade is lower than a B. General Paper, Additional Mathematics, and Further Mathematics are not included in eleven subjects and electives in O and A Levels should be the most relevant to the program they are applying for at HU. Those who have not yet completed their A level examination can use their AS grades. No exemption will be granted just based on O level scores. Exemption for the applicants of the Dhanani School of School of Science and Engineering

  • All Science and Engineering applicants can avail Grade based Exemption for the English Component of their Entrance Examination only. All DSSE applicants have to attempt Advanced Level Math Component of the Habib University Entrance Examination.
  • AKU-EB students can get exemption from the English Component of Entrance test if their average SSC & HSSC score is 85% or above. Those students who have not completed their HSSC can use their HSSC I result. AKU-EB students applying for DSSE programs must attempt Advanced Level Math Component of the Habib University Entrance Examination.
