Biography:

Ahsan Mashhood is a Research Affiliate at Habib University and a DPhil (PhD) student at the University of Oxford. He was previously a Dean’s Fellow at Habib University, where he was involved in teaching, research, and student mentorship.

His research focuses on young people’s mental health and suicidal behaviour in Pakistan, with particular attention to stigma, gender, social exclusion, and structural determinants of health. His work is situated within public health and social epidemiology, and combines quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches. He is especially interested in how social inequalities shape experiences of distress, help-seeking, and care, as well as emerging concerns around eco-anxiety and eco-grief in climate-vulnerable contexts like Pakistan.

At Habib University, Ahsan has taught Quantitative Methods, Social Theory II, and Scientific Thought, and has been actively engaged in research.

Ahsan is actively engaged in public scholarship and regularly shares research insights and data-driven reflections on social issues through professional platforms, including LinkedIn.
