Habib Response - Covid-19

Welcome Back!

After a successful orientation for the batch of 2022, preparations for the week of welcome were put into action. This year around, the Office of Student Life collaborated with HUSG for the planning and execution of the week of welcome. With their combined efforts, the week of welcome saw its largest attendance and back-to-back successful events. The Week of Welcome was held from the 28th to the 31st of August.

Day 1: Club Fair

The week of welcome kicked off with a Club Fair that took place at the Wellness Courtyard. The fair helped activate the clubs by providing them with a platform to exhibit what they got and what they do. Each club was provided with a desk where the club representatives have to reach out to the student body and acquire sign ups. 15 clubs participated in the Club Fair, out of which four clubs came up with fantastic performances to wow the audience. The performances consisted of a skit and cosplay walk by Habib Anime Club, dance performance by Raqs, jamming session by Mouseequi, and Mushaira by Araish-e-Khayal. The turnout for the club fair was less than last year due to the timings but impressive nonetheless.

Day 2: Kahwa Khana with Arshad Mehmood

To introduce the batch of 2022 to one of our old traditions, a Kahwa Khana with Arshad Mehmood was organized for the second day of the week of welcome. Arshad Mehmood is a Pakistani actor, music composer, and singer. The panel consisted of Arshad Mehmood and the HUSG president, Shayaan Aijaz acting as the moderator. The contents of the discussion varied from Mr. Mehmood’s personal life to his work, ending with some advice for the youthful audience. The event witnessed a packed MPR with refreshments being provided at the end of the Kahwa Khana.

Day 3: HU’s Got Talent

After a successful talent hunt last year, the second edition of HU’s got Talent was organized on the third day of the week of welcome. 25 of HU’s finest students registered to perform. The stage was home to a diverse range of performances. The audience witnessed singers performing genres from classical to western with two original compositions as well. Followed by three original and amusing stand-up performances, two mesmerizing solo-dance performances, an outstanding beat boxing performance by Haroon, and some original poetry by Yusra Afzal. The turn out for the talent show was met with a packed Tariq Rafi for the whole duration of the event. The judges panel this time around had Shayaan Aijaz, Dr.Anzar Khaliq and Muddasir Sheikh. Three best performances on the basis of originality and talent were given shields with a special mention to Sangeen Shah by the audience.
