Habib Response - Covid-19

Project Wujood:

“Wujood” is a student led initiative with the purpose to establish an Adult Literacy Program for the support staff of Habib University. In our efforts to bridge the social gap within the community, we want to engage with the staff in a manner that is sustainable, efficient and beneficial to the community as a whole. The syllabus is structured to cater to the needs to each individual. Furthermore, it equips the staff members with more than just classroom lecture and development of emotional quotient that includes character development, personal growth and critical thinking.

Project Kawish:

Kawish is a program for the education of less-privileged children in Pakistan. The program helps students to prepare for university admission tests and interviews, so that their financial constraint (and the resulting inability to join high-pricing centers) is not a barrier in opening up paths for higher education. Kawish is collaborated with The Citizens Foundation and offers summer internships to Habib University students. You would not want to miss this in-house opportunity of singer the community.

Blood Drives:

Blood Drives have become a regular activity for the HU Community, organized every semester. In collaboration with various hospitals and institutes. Some of the collaborations include the Indus Hospital, Shaukat Khanum, and Kashif Iqbal Thalassemia Care Centre. Such initiatives inculcate a sense of selflessness and compassion for others and help us become better humans.

PINKTOBER – Breast Cancer Awareness:

October is the breast-cancer awareness month and celebrated as “Pinktober” at Habib every year. SerVe Club contributes to this cause by arranging awareness sessions, fundraisers and bake sales to support hospitals. Collaborations with cancer hospitals like Shaukat Khanum and Pink Ribbon have been established as a part of the initiative.

Irtiqa:

The SerVe Club organized a beach cleaning drive. It brought together students from various schools, along with volunteers from student body, to unite and work for the cause of environment.

Akhuwat – Clothes Drive:

SerVe Club took the initiative to collaborate with the Non – Government Organization, Akhwat and conduct a clothes drive on campus. The drive took place in Spring 2018 and the student body took part whole-heartedly to donate clothes for the deserving people in Akhuwat’s Clothes bank.

Lunch with Caretakers:

For the past two years, Habib’s SerVe club has been organizing lunch with staff every semester. The purpose of this initiative is to present gratitude towards the TCT staff who work dedicatedly to maintain cleanliness and order on the campus day in day out.

Uraan:

Uraan is an educational initiative started by the HU Co-founders. Since then, it has been running with a purpose to enhance primary school children’s Meta curricular skills. Every semester, volunteers are selected from the student body who teach primary school kids at a local school for a span of two weeks to enhance their soft skills.

Wall of Kindness:

The wall of kindness is a wall that the SerVe Club painted adjacent to a government school right across the university. Collection drives were carried out at the university, then gifts and donations for the kids were dropped off at the wall.
