Biography

Amar Latif Qazi is a scholar who is committed to systemic social justice and participatory inclusive development. As part of that, he is interested in bridging the gap between research and practice. Amar completed his bachelors from Institute of Business Administration in Karachi, where he wrote his thesis on the lived experience of non-believers in Pakistan. His professional experience spans various roles, including program management, research, and advocacy. He has worked on financial empowerment of persons with disabilities and provided disability sensitization trainings, and also has experience in monitoring and evaluation.
After working for 4 years in the development sector, he secured Fulbright scholarship to complete his Master’s in Community Development and Action from Vanderbilt, where he was actively involved in student and professional life, working as a graduate assistant for Next Steps at Vanderbilt. He participated in the gun control and the BDS movement advocacy efforts, while also conducting collaborative research on gun laws and payday loans. He wrote his thesis on the structure, promises and challenges of grassroots movements using the case study of Karachi Bachao Tehreek.
