  • Al-Farabi Dental College, Riyadh (2010-2016): Completed Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), graduating 2nd in her class with a CGPA of 4.5/5. Received a merit scholarship and several accolades including a letter of distinction from the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Biography:

Anum Ijaz is an accomplished dental surgeon and public health professional with a strong background in both clinical practice and research. After earning her BDS from Al-Farabi Dental College, where she graduated with top honors, Anum pursued her passion for global health at the University of Illinois Chicago, where she icompleted her MPH on a Fulbright Scholarship. Her career is marked by a dedication to improving oral health through education, research, and advocacy, particularly in underserved communities. She was also honored with the Douglas Award for essay writing on the theme of Oral Health & Senescence, titled “The Link Between Oral Health and Aging-related Diseases: A Review.”

  • “Assessing the Accuracy, Completeness, and Reliability of Artificial Intelligence-Generated Responses in Dentistry: A Pilot Study Evaluating the ChatGPT Model” Published in Cureus.
  • Published the findings in a blog piece titled “Championing Little Smiles: Investigating the Complex Factors Behind Caries in Young Children,” featured on UIC website.
  • “Is Khat (Catha edulis) Chewing a Risk Factor for Periodontal Diseases?” Published in PubMed.
  • “Empowering Women Dentists in Pakistan: Changing the Landscape of Oral Health Sector.” Published in JPDA.
  • Ongoing research projects include studies on plastic waste production in dental practices and a situation analysis of the oral health sector in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region.
