This course, a core class for all SDP majors, is designed to introduce students to key approaches to qualitative research design and methodologies. You will be introduced to techniques including participant-observation, interview and focus group, survey, and discipline appropriate writing through readings, hands-on assignments, and field exercises. We will also study and debate the ethical complexities of conducting fieldwork and implementing research in a range of situations and contexts.
