This course provides a foundational introduction to the principles and practices of cybersecurity. Students will explore core concepts such as confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA triad), common threat models, and the basics of securing digital systems. The course introduces key domains of cybersecurity, including cryptography (at an introductory level), information security, application and network security fundamentals, human factors and social engineering, and security best practices. Emphasis is placed on building a “security mindset” through case studies and hands-on activities. The course culminates in a practical project where students analyze a simple system, identify potential vulnerabilities, and propose basic security improvements.
