This course examines the foundations and power structures of digital societies through historical and contemporary lenses by looking at ideas of mimesis, simulation, technological infrastructure, and the digital production of the self. The course frames contemporary digital networks not as historically unique phenomena but as materializations of classical philosophical problems and the consequences of Cold War-era existential threats. The syllabus critically examines digital platforms, generative models, and algorithms that govern contemporary social life.
