Dr Shahid Shaikh

Interim Vice President Academic Affairs and Professor ECE

Dr. Shahid Shaikh is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and currently serves as the Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs at Habib University, overseeing all academic matters. He is one of the founding faculty members of the University, having joined in 2012 as an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering.
Over the years, Dr. Shaikh has held several key administrative positions, including Associate Dean for Academic Operations, Associate Dean for Academic Systems and University Registrar, Dean of Faculty, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, and Program Director of Electrical Engineering.
Before joining Habib University, Dr. Shaikh was Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering at FAST–National University, Karachi.
Dr. Shaikh also has several years of diverse industry experience. He began his career as an engineer with the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), a public utility company in Pakistan, before transitioning to IT, where he worked as a Programmer Analyst in Pakistan and Canada before turning to academics.
In 2004, he earned his Ph.D. in Systems and Control from McGill University, Montréal, Canada. During his doctoral studies, he was named to the Dean’s Honor List and received the D. W. Ambridge Prize for the best Ph.D. thesis in physical sciences and engineering. He was a post-doctoral fellow at McGill University, Canada.
