In this course, we’ll learn how to tell stories that are meant to be heard; not read or seen. We will learn how to listen with a practiced ear, produce high-quality sound, and tell non-fiction stories well. You’ll get practice writing, reporting, and interviewing for audio, as well as tools for audio editing and mixing. You’ll produce several different formats of audio stories that you will then revise and polish to be of professional quality. And you’ll hear a lot of audio storytelling.
This class is for anyone who loves to tell stories– I believe that if you’re interested in any kind of storytelling, be it fiction, nonfiction, documentary, reportage or writing for the stage, you’ll benefit from this class. We will learn to think about how we listen to others, how we talk to one another, and how we translate those stories to be experienced. There are prerequisites, but you can make a pitch to have them waived.
