Biography
Dr. Vasfi O. Özen holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from The University of Kansas, where his dissertation explored the concepts of empathy and the will in relation to human understanding and self-awareness. His areas of specialization are in European Philosophy, Moral Psychology, and Philosophy of Action. He currently serves as a Full-Time Lecturer in the Academic Writing Program at Koç University, İstanbul.
Dr. Özen’s work examines the intersections of ethics, social philosophy, and self-knowledge, drawing primarily from the 19th-century post-Kantian tradition and contemporary moral psychology.
Dr. Özen’s teaching experience spans multiple institutions, including Koç University, Boğaziçi University, and The College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska. His scholarly contributions include several published articles in prominent peer-reviewed journals, the most recent being Nietzsche-Studien and British Journal for the History of Philosophy.
In addition to his research and teaching, Dr. Özen is an active member of the philosophical community, having presented at various international conferences and serving as a reviewer for well-reputed international journals and publishing houses.
