Rafay has contributed significantly to the field of journalism, particularly in South Asian music and film, and has held various editorial and reporting roles at leading Pakistani publications. His work in education as a visiting faculty member at several prestigious universities further underscores his commitment to advancing the role of arts and culture in society. He currently produces and hosts The Rafay Mahmood Podcast on YouTube and holds the position of The Life & Style Editor at The Express Tribune. His area of research includes cinema, digital cultures and digital afterlife.
