Co-run by the Office of Research and the Graduate School Curation Program at Habib University, the Summer Tehqiq Research Program (STRP) is the flagship initiative aimed at providing resources to faculty/fellow to conduct small-scale research in the Summer Semester and promoting an undergraduate research culture at Habib University. Faculty/fellow submit proposals for ten-week-long research projects that involve their own research activities as Principal Investigator (PI) and active mentorship of undergraduate researchers.

STRP Guidelines and Expectations

To ensure the timely progress of research projects and enhance the learning experiences of STRP student researchers, faculty/fellows are expected to actively engage with the GSCP and the Office of Research (OoR) in implementing the prescribed learning experiences and providing consistent guidance throughout the research process.

1. Student Selection

  • GSCP facilitates the student selection process in consultation with the PI.
  • Faculty/fellows (PIs) must participate in interviews with the GSCP team to align students’ selection with research needs.

  • Students must submit Minutes of the Meeting (MoM) for at least one session weekly on Canvas, tracked by faculty for accountability.

4. Research Supervision Meetings

As Principal Investigators, faculty and fellows play a pivotal role as lead researchers, ensuring the successful completion and high quality of their projects. They are responsible for providing consistent and effective research supervision to student researchers throughout the program.

5. GSCP/OoR Engagements for Students

  • Huddles: Bi-weekly check-ins led by OoR/GSCP to address progress and concerns. Faculty must ensure student participation.
  • STRP Weekly Sessions: Held every Friday to promote interdisciplinary learning, including workshops and collaborative activities.
