This is the first course on DC and AC electromechanical systems for EE juniors to explore diverse types of electrical machines, understand how it work and learn its application. Electrical engineers must have to know the types of electrical machines used in industry, for instance in power generation, process and manufacturing industries. Specific topics include single- phase and three-phase transformers, general structure and physical principles of electric drive systems, DC motors, DC generators, Induction and Synchronous AC motors and generators. The major focus of the course will be the mathematical modeling of different type of machines, losses and efficiency analysis, speed control of electrical machines, voltage and speed regulation analysis under varying load conditions.
