Habib University is pleased to announce that it will be undergoing a comprehensive evaluation visit on April 07-09, 2025, by a team representing the New England Commission of Higher Education (formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, NEASC).
The New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), a recognized U.S. accrediting commission, provides institutional accreditation to approximately 220 institutions in the United States and American-style institutions overseas. Accreditation is a voluntary process that applies to the institution as a whole, signifying its commitment to meeting high educational standards.
While Habib University became eligible to apply for Candidacy in Fall 2023, it is important to note that Candidacy is not accreditation, but a formal affiliation with NECHE that indicates that the institution has achieved initial recognition and is progressing toward accreditation.
For the past year and a half, Habib University has been engaged in a self-study process, focusing on addressing the Commission’s Standards for Accreditation. This evaluation visit by a team of peer reviewers provides an opportunity to assess the institution’s progress to date and gather supporting evidence. Based on their findings, the team will make a recommendation regarding the institution’s accreditation status; however, the final decision rests with the Commission.
As part of this self-evaluation process, Habib University invites members of the broader community to share their comments regarding the University. Public comments must be submitted by April 9, 2025, and address substantive matters related to the institution’s quality. Please note that the Commission cannot settle disputes between individuals and institutions.
