Project Title
Tides of Motherhood
Description
Pakistan, a climate-vulnerable nation experiences floods with increasing frequency and intensity. I examine flood exposure (2011 2019) and measure both short- and long-term impacts on womens health outcomes and decision-making. This study investigates a) the impact of flood frequency and duration on access to maternal healthcare, b) the interconnected implications of these events on children's schooling, nutrition, vaccination, and health service utilization, and c) the simultaneous influence on women's decisions regarding future pregnancies and family planning. Findings show flood frequency has no significant impact, but higher intensity raises the maternal healthcare index, while their joint impact reduces the index significantly. However improved maternal and child health reduces women's tendency to delay future pregnancies.
