Final Year Project
Project Title
Awareness of Psychological Health and Patterns of Intergenerational Family Trauma
Description
The research investigates the awareness levels of psychological health among young adults in Karachi, highlighting its low prevalence and associated consequences. Utilizing qualitative surveys, the study explores how individuals perceive mental health issues, their experiences with family-related trauma, and their ability to recognize and address psychological struggles. Findings indicate that while many respondents acknowledge mental health challenges, a significant portion lacks awareness of behavioral interventions. Family dynamics, abuse, and neglect emerge as primary contributors to mental distress, reinforcing the existence of intergenerational trauma. The study underscores the societal tendency to downplay mental health concerns, emphasizing the need for awareness campaigns and policy interventions. By contextualizing its findings with existing literature, the research highlights the critical role of mental health literacy in enabling individuals to manage psychological well-being effectively. The study advocates for further exploration and policy-driven solutions to enhance mental health awareness and support systems in Karachi.
