Mariam Fatima, an SDP alumna from the Class of 2019, recently achieved a significant milestone with the publication of her research paper titled "Amateurs’ Engagements with Music and Dance: A Comparative Phenomenology of Performance Arts Practice in Karachi" in the third issue of Ziauddin University's Journal of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
In her study, Mariam delves into the captivating world of performance arts in Karachi, offering a fresh and unique perspective on the practice of music and dance. Her paper highlights the various ways in which young aspiring artists engage with the performing arts, shedding light on how these experiences shape their understanding and appreciation of the arts.
One of the key findings of Mariam's research is the profound impact of art on the well-being of individuals in Pakistan. Her study showcases the transformative power of music and dance, highlighting them as powerful outlets for self-expression, creativity, and the cultural preservation.
She hopes that this research acts as a catalyst for further exploration and dialogue about the arts, transcending boundaries not only within Karachi but also across diverse cultural contexts. This achievement not only marks a personal milestone for Mariam but also stands as an opportunity to start conversations, encourage further exploration, and a deeper appreciation of the arts.
