Habib University held its first-ever community awareness session in New York on October 5, 2024, bringing together senior professionals and members of the Pakistani diaspora. The event, hosted by six prominent individuals—Zara Habib, Imran Habib, Saira Sharih, Imran Sharih, Huma Haider, and Viqar Haider—served as a platform to spotlight the university’s transformative mission and its impact on higher education in Pakistan.
The session was graced by the presence of all members of Habib University’s Board of Governors, including renowned academicians Dr. Alexander Key from Stanford University, Dr. Lynn Stein from Olin College, and Dr. Jennifer Wolf from Carleton College. Their attendance underscored the university’s commitment to fostering global connections in education.
Imran Habib opened the evening with a compelling introduction to Habib University, describing it as “the most meaningful philanthropic institution when it comes to creating lasting and sustainable impact.” He invited attendees to join the communal effort to support the university’s mission of universal access to quality higher education.
Wasif A. Rizvi, the founding president of Habib University, delivered the keynote address, painting a vivid picture of the challenges within Pakistan’s higher education landscape. He highlighted the unique approach of Habib University—a contextually rooted liberal arts model designed to cultivate critically conscious leaders who address the nation’s most pressing issues.
The evening concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Sarah Stein Greenberg, a member of Habib University’s Board of Governors and Executive Director of the Stanford d.school. She expressed her admiration for the university’s innovative approach and encouraged attendees to contribute to this bold educational movement.
