What is mental health and why should I care about it?

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It impacts on our thinking, feelings and actions. Students with positive mental realize their full potential, work productively, deal with stressful situation successfully and make positive contribution to their families and communities. To be successful at the University, good mental health is as important as physical health.

What is mental health counseling and how will it help me?

In light of this, we have on-campus mental health counselors available for consultation. HU counselors are respectful and responsive to students and offer a safe place to them for sharing their problems. They help students in dealing with difficult circumstances such as depression, anxiety, stress, grief, relationship issues, disappointments etc. When students seek mental health counseling, they often gain:

  • Coping skills to deal with their issues
  • Confidence and courage to face the issues
  • Hope and motivation to work for betterment
  • Personal insight
  • Overall wellness

Small Group Therapy Sessions

HU counselors also organize group therapy sessions for the students facing the similar issues. Group therapy sessions provides a sense of community and support to students. These sessions are announced every semester.
