Final Year Project
Project Title
Gantry Robot for Packaging and Palletizing of Microwaves
Description
Dawlance's microwave line requires workers to manually lift up to 40 kg in a 30-second cycle, yielding a NIOSH Lifting Index of 3.1; this is well above the safe limit of 1.0 and mandates immediate redesign. Hence, this project designs and validates a 4-axis human-robot collaborative gantry system that automates heavy lifting and stacking, reducing the Lifting Index below 1.0 and cycle time below 25 seconds. Major deliverables include a functional prototype utilizing hardware ready for production, a vision-guided control architecture, a full mechanical and electrical design package for steel fabrication, and a maintenance manual for Dawlance.
