Final Year Project
Project Title
Autonomous Tow Truck - Enhanced Safety and Object Detection
Description
Toyota Indus Motor Company is encountering logistical challenges in the internal transportation of car parts within its factory, and the current partially automated tow truck lacks reliable lateral and rear/lateral obstacle awareness and short-horizon prediction, creating blind-spot safety risks, especially with multi-trailers. We must design, implement, and validate an integrated, regulation-compliant 360° perception prediction control stack, which includes multi-sensor fusion and predictive planning that detects lateral/rear hazards in real time and executes collision-free maneuvers, fixing current blind-spot and prediction gaps for production deployment. Furthermore, we aim to enhance the localization capabilities of the tow truck so it can identify where it is in its environment.
