This research aims to examine how sports infrastructure development in Karachi reflects broader urban priorities and contributes to unequal access to recreational space. In recent years, the city has seen a rapid expansion of elite sports facilities, most notably padel courts, often located on high-value urban land and accessible primarily through membership or high fees. At the same time, public sports grounds that cater to mass-participation sports such as football, hockey, athletics, and informal recreation have experienced prolonged neglect, poor maintenance, or restricted access.
