Description

Tragedy’s philosophy investigates the inherent limits of human agency by modeling the conflict between rational, coherent action and ineluctable counterforces. Observing contemporary art forms, including AI-generated artworks, as a narrative site where humanity represents its own self-inflicted stiflement, this thesis reflects upon Artificial Intelligence (AI) functioning as a tragic mechanism that materializes ancient archetypes of fate and hamartia within a global technological paradigm. By evaluating thematic expressions of freedom, fated necessity, and irony, this thesis assesses how AI induces an ontological deadlock: a collision between the rhythmic “measure of life” and the optimizing “measure of procedure,” revealing how AI is reorienting the human subject within a rapidly developing world where creative and intellectual values are being fundamentally reshaped.
