Retelling Experience

Description

My design research project was based on the craft of fictional retellings and if there can potentially be any set criteria for it. For the primary research, I did a content comparative analysis between original stories and their fictional retellings to see how they varied from each other. This was done on quite a few stories, ranging from popular Western stories to South Asian folklores, and then a criteria was deduced. For DR II, I'll be doing a retelling on Heer Ranjha and Romeo Juliet - adopting these characters and their context - into a new story and I'll be doing a multimedia presentation of it. My main medium would be writing, however, I plan on using different mediums to stitch the narrative together, probably in form of an installation. Mediums I'm considering: image/video, pen illustrations and motion graphics, light art, paper collage art, artist's book.
