Final Year Project
Project Title
Exploring the Effects of Climate Change on Women from Rural Sindh During Migration to Karachi: The Primary Challenges in the Process of Resettlement
Description
This study explores the perspectives of relief workers and their experience engaging with women migrants from rural Sindh due to floods. It examines how climate change affects women in Umerkot, Tharparkar, and Sukkur and their migration to Karachi. This project has adopted an ecofeminist viewpoint and intersectionality to investigate how women in these communities adapt to climate change. I want to explore how diverse variables affect their plans, particularly for climate-related migration. Despite recognizing women are more sensitive to climate threats, little is known about rural Pakistani women's experiences. My research examines their climate change viewpoints and adaptations. Three relief workers—one from a non-profit, one from a student-led organization, and one independent— shared their experiences with us. Their accounts show us the ground reality and the specific issues women confront due to climate-induced migration.
