Final Year Project
Project Title
Development of an Intent-Based Networking Tool for Network Automation
Description
Traditional computer networking has long relied on manual configuration, requiring painstaking entry of settings across network devices. However, with the emergence of Large Language Models (LLMs) and the capabilities they offer in automating text-generation tasks, a paradigm shift towards automation in networking is underway. This project introduces Intent-Based Networking (IBN), leveraging Natural Language Processing Techniques, including LLMs, to revolutionize traditional networking processes. IBN systems utilize AI to streamline operations, offering centralized and automated network policy management for enhanced efficiency, agility, and zero-trust access. By incorporating network analytics and machine learning, IBN enables proactive issue resolution, addressing potential problems before they escalate. Moreover, IBN significantly improves operational efficiency by eliminating manual, CLI-driven operations, thereby reducing errors and minimizing risks associated with human intervention. Through IBN, the user specifies their intent, initiating an automated process that leverages the power of AI to generate network commands, heralding a new era of intelligent and automated networking solutions.
