Description

My project asks the question, "Is it possible for people to share their exact thoughts and feelings with each other?" and then explores the barriers that keep them from doing so. For my research paper, I interviewed 10 couples and identified that the main factor that determines how well people are able to communicate is how well they're able to understand themselves, not just superficially such as knowing one's own desire, but with an understanding of the underlying thought processes and emotions behind those desires. When we start to understand these complex mental processes happening inside us, we can appreciate that they're happening inside other people too, and we're able to communicate with them on that deeper level. I am using this research as the basis for an animated short film that shows a couple trying to reconcile their strained relationship by trying to communicate with each other on that deeper level.
