Project Title
Dynamic Junction Control System
Description
Our Final Year Project (FYP) aims to improve traffic flow by minimizing wait times at traffic stops. We achieve this by utilizing computer vision to detect the density of cars present when the light turns green. Based on this information, we decide the time for which the signal should remain green. Currently, the state of junctions in Karachi decides the phase cycle length based on the time of day and applies a static phase cycle length, resulting in wasted time when there are fewer cars, and the signal stays open longer than necessary.
