Final Year Project

Project Title

Studying the Impact of Rural Electrification in Village Hashim Mir Bahar using Agent-Based Modeling

Description

As part of my FYP, I evaluated the impact of rural electrification using solar panels in the coastal villages of Pakistan. The key indicators of change I considered were education, gender relations, employment and income, and health and security. For this purpose, I have developed an agent-based model using NetLogo that takes in a village’s map and its demographic data and then maps the ability of each household to adapt to the change in the rural electrification program depending on their spatial network and socio-economic conditions. It can be provided with a different set of initial parameters and used to understand the village’s adaptation to different development programs like water access and livelihood too.
