Final Year Project

Project Title

Traditional Archetypes

Description

The project is focused on taking traditional crafts and how we can transform them into contemporary art while still keeping their basic essential properties. As the craft industry has slow progress in innovation, I want to see how we can take traditional south East Asian craft forward with different mediums. Countries within our region celebrate their culture and art and culture do mix but there is still a lack of artistic expression within certain countries and they have social benefits. There is a potential for further engagement of the arts and the communities. I will be taking forward the Ajrak pattern to see how one can change and reproduce it within the confines of light, form, and color.
