Project Title
Maar Peet Ek Hissa Hai
Description
Maar Peet Ek Hissa Hai is an audio-visual archive documenting the horrors of corporal punishment as a parenting technique in Pakistani households. It is often the first introduction to violence for children and has adverse effects rather than disciplining them. This project uses new media art tools to create a sensual installation for people to reflect, acknowledge and rekindle with their internalized memories of experiencing or inflicting corporal punishment on others. It is also a reminder of how casually our language has become violent too.
