Jatt ho gaya Wehshi: Re-Imagining Kinship and Identity through the Punjabi Rural-Vendetta Film
Description
My final research project was a paper on the Punjabi action film genre of the 1980s. I studied the film texts and semiotics of various films in the attempt to tie them into a single cohesive genre. Moreover, I attempted to analyze narrative and aesthetic tropes that the genre made use of formulaically, in order to reflect on the socio-cultural roots that gave rise to this prolific Punjabi film genre.
